|Dear Young Living Members: As we approach mid-year and finalize preparations for our most exciting event of the year—the International Grand Convention—I want to take a moment to celebrate everything that has happened so far in 2017. It’s absolutely amazing what milestones we’ve already reached together! I speak for Gary and Mary and the rest of the Executive team in saying we couldn’t be more proud or excited about what you individually, and collectively, have accomplished this year. Here are some of the big wins so far this year that we’d like to celebrate with you:|
Biggest Month & Quarter in Company History
In the first three months of 2017, we had the biggest sales quarter in Young Living history. This testament to our continued upward momentum is a huge accomplishment, and I know that hard work in the field and in our support offices around the world have fueled this major milestone.
March was the biggest single month in company history, and the 103,000 new members who joined that month helped secure this achievement. In addition, we shipped a record 1 million orders in March, which included nearly 7 million bottles of essential oils! I feel truly blessed to be part of a company and community that people are eager to join. Thank you for all of your hard work to continue bringing more people to the Young Living tribe than ever before. After all, our work isn’t done until there are oils in every home!
Global HQ Groundbreaking
Emblematic of our surging worldwide growth was the official Global Headquarters groundbreaking on May 15. This state-of-the-art campus will be our new home as we continue to spread the benefits of essential oils to everyone, everywhere. Designed to Gary’s vision and specifications, our new environmentally sustainable global HQ will be a beacon to the world of the power of our message as the leader of the essential oils movement.
We’re also excited to announce a new addition to the Young Living community—one that we believe will help us further our mission to bring Young Living essential oils to every home in the world. We acquired the respected direct marketing company Life Matters, owned by Richard and Kimmy Brooke, this May. Gary and Mary and the Executive team are excited to have the Brookes’ passion for Young Living’s story and products be a part of our growing company.
2017 International Grand Convention
One of the main reasons we love convention as corporate employees is the invaluable opportunity it affords us to see each of you and get to know you better (as many as we can!). The synergy we gain from meeting each of you and listening to your stories is priceless for creating a sense a family, which is what Young Living is all about.
This year is set to be the biggest convention ever! We’re deeply impressed with all the sacrifice that each of you are undertaking to come to Utah to participate. We actively encourage our employees to work hard to connect with each of you and to go the extra mile to bring you the extraordinary experience you deserve.
Indonesia Grand Opening
In addition to our booming growth in the United States, we’re also seeing exciting growth abroad. On March 29, the Young Living Indonesia market held its grand opening event, with more than 1,500 attendees. Local and regional staff did a fantastic job managing this event. Since officially opening office operations on May 2, this market has already generated excitement in the region and deftly handled the challenges that always come with a new market. We know we can look forward to great things from Indonesia, one of the most populous countries in the world.
With the opening of Indonesia, Young Living now has 13 offices managing 20 open markets around the world. These offices are located in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Ecuador, the U.K., Croatia, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia.
This May the Young Living Australia market hosted the Australian Symposium. Our hardworking members in the area gathered on the beautiful Gold Coast to hear field leaders, experts, local staff, and global executive staff discuss all things oils, including essential oils and science, parenting, animals, lifestyle, and leadership. This inspiring event is another indicator of Young Living’s global presence and the passion individuals around the world have for the quality and purity of our products.
Global Leadership Cruise
In March we held our first-ever chartered Global Leadership Cruise, visiting beautiful Honduras and Belize. In addition to our many adventures and relationship-building opportunities between staff and members, we also heard a powerful keynote speech from Mary Young—an experience that is always memorable. I know being able to qualify for this event required dedication and sacrifice from many of our attendees. Stay tuned for announcements related to our next GLC!
Gary’s Great Alaskan Races
This year Founder and Chairman of the Board Gary Young completed an impressive feat when he finished the Tustumena 200 and Willow 300 dog sledding races in Alaska. These accomplishments are another testament of Gary’s untiring pursuit to defy limitations and take on new challenges. It has been fun watching him work with YL Brand Ambassador and dog sled race legend Mitch Seavey and to see the support of family, friends, and the community. Gary continues to prepare for the 2018 Iditarod and has almost 50 dogs in training at his ranch in Tabiona, Utah. We are excited to see where the next year takes him and what exciting triumphs are in store. As always, Gary is an inspiring example to all of us.
Quintis Sandalwood Farm
As the world leader in essential oils, our farms—and the standards we maintain at each farm—are what set us apart from any other company. That’s why we’re very excited about our partnership with Quintis Sandalwood Farm, which was finalized earlier this year. This farm—which extends to Australia’s northern outback—will help us meet the needs of our current and expected growth and offer a new supply of Sacred Sandalwood™ essential oil. Thanks to its innovative techniques and award-winning environmental efforts, this farm will play an integral role as we continue to bring pure, high-quality essential oils to homes around the world.
This brings our total corporate and partner farms to 14, which complements the other Seed to Seal-certified suppliers who provide our amazing essential oils. Our corporate and partner farms and distilleries are located in Canada (B.C.), Idaho (St. Maries and Highland Flats), Utah (Mona and Tabiona), Hawaii (Kona), Ecuador (Guayaquil), France (Simiane-la-Rotonde), Croatia (Split), Taiwan (Taitung), Australia (Darwin & Perth), UAE (Dubai), and Oman (Muscat). To ensure our future supply of pure essential oils is secure, we are in the process of working to acquire additional farms and/or partner with existing farms.
The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation
The Foundation continues strong in its mission to empower individuals to achieve their potential through various inspiring projects in Nepal, Cambodia, Ecuador, Uganda, and Croatia. If any of you are interested in participating in one of these projects, please let Greg Larsen know. As the Foundation’s Executive Director, he’s very interested in getting members involved in the Foundation’s humanitarian work.
A few weeks ago, we celebrated our new and veteran Diamonds with our annual Diamond Retreat. On the excursion, attendees had the opportunity to visit the beautiful Gold Coast and the Darwin Blue Cypress Farm, attend the Australian Symposium, and explore the Northern Territory Outback. I always love celebrating the hard work and examples of our leaders, and I left feeling deeply impressed by our dynamic, inspired Diamonds.
I can’t believe where this year has already taken Young Living, and I’m so excited to see what else 2017 has in store. As a corporate management team, we are constantly astounded by the dedication we see from our members, and we’re all very grateful to be a part of something so special and life-changing for so many people. Thank you for sharing your talents and energy with us—and the world.
